$100 dollars wasted. The card is not a Home Depot card, it's a Home Depot card retailed by [...]. They have tricky rules, the purchaser has to activate the card (the recipient can't they say) before giving as a gift. The card I gave can't be activated because the recipient pulled off a sticker that had that activation code. Giftcardmall's customer service on the phone are terrible and they won't activate it. They don't care...they want me to activate it online or they can't help. Their online site can't help either unless you have the code from the sticker.
Basically, buy this card if you don't mind throwing away the money. |

I ordered this as a surprise Christmas gift and the card was delivered quickly, but the package looked similar to junk mail as was almost put in the garbage. The gift card had to be activated, but I was not aware and the recipient went to the store to use it and they were told no balance was on the card. I felt embarrassed. In the end the card was activated and everything was fine. I would have like to know that the card had to be activated before using so that this situation could have been avoided.

| If you haven't given gift cards before, I recommend that you try them. Some people feel that they lack a certain personal touch, but truthfully I like seeing the giftee with a look of pleasure on their face when they open up the package, rather than struggling to find something nice to say about yet another of "something" they really might not need. Gift cards are enjoyed by everyone I have ever given them to. They will never replace conventional presents, but for those people for whom it is sometimes a little difficult to find the right gift, they are excellent. Also, way easy to wrap....and to mail... |
